First Line Friday (Week 36): Son of Promise

Happy Friday!

Welcome to First Line Friday's hosted by Hoarding Books.

Today's book is: Son of Promise by Caryl McAdoo

Son of Promise

First line is:
"Travis leaned back in his favorite cane-bottomed porch chair and squinted his eyes against the coming day. All night he'd searched for the right words. But what seemed to work in the dark, paled with dawn's first light."

Yes I know that's more than one line, but I couldn't leave it at the just the one. I have only read a couple books by Ms. McAdoo before, but after reading the description I was intrigued and I am looking forward to find out what the story holds. I am participating in an upcoming blog tour so I was privledged to receive an advanced copy, I just need to finish my current read so I can start it. This book officially releases this Monday (January 15th).

Now it's your turn!
Let me know your first line in the comments and then head over
to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!

  1. That is a great first line (or more ;) ).
I'm currently reading a children's book, "The Treasure Hunt" by Rebecca Martin. My eight year old sister will probably like it, but my writing brain is having a hard time being silent while I read it. ;)
The first line is: "Three o'clock in the morning was certainly a strange time to be awake."
