Genre: Romantic Suspense

About the Book:

In the stark but beautiful wilds of northern New Mexico, a luxury spa and couple's retreat turns into a chilling nightmare when a woman vanishes without a trace, just hours after a public fight with her boyfriend. Worried something sinister has happened, her friends reach out to investigator Riley MacLeod, an expert skip tracer, for help. The assignment means going undercover at the retreat, which means pairing up with private investigator Greyson Chadwick. Their partnership ignites a tumultuous mix of attraction and distrust as Riley's unorthodox methods clash with Greyson's meticulous approach.

As they delve deeper into the case and a ruthless hitman is unleashed upon them, Riley and Greyson find themselves fighting not only for justice but for their very survival. Staying one step ahead of danger, the pair discovers a hidden truth that rocks them to the core. In their race against the clock, they can only hope that they're not too late.

My Rating & Thoughts:

4.5 rounded up to 5

I loved Riley and Grayson in book 1 and couldn't wait for this book in hopes that they would get together. We know Riley likes Grayson but how does he feel about her? When a woman goes missing at a couple's retreat they end up going undercover to try to find her. Can they make a fake relationship look real? Will this blur the lines into real life feelings? There were so many scenes that made me see just how great of a couple they could be together. As much as I enjoyed the romance I also really enjoyed seeing them put their private investigator skills to work and figure out where to next. There was a lot of action that not only kept them moving but also the ones they are tracking and those that are tracking them. Filled with twists and turns that had me hooked to know what was going to happen. I loved that we got multiple perspectives throughout the story. In the midst of the suspense and action we have real life still happening and characters opening up about personal struggles and demons they are dealing with, and there are conversations about putting your trust in God not yourself. While the case is wrapped and we knew where the romance is headed the book does end with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to continue with this series.

Favourite Quotes:
“None of us can see the future or be guaranteed of a certain kind. That's where trust and daily dependence on God comes in.”
“No, we aren't promised no pain or hurt, but we are promised God is with us through it all.”

(I purchased my copy of this book; opinions expressed
