Jane Reviews: Gaffe Out Loud by Christy Barritt

Series: The Worst Detective Ever #7
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Publisher: River Heights
Released: Dec. 22, 2018
222 pages
About the Book:
Actress Joey Darling is beginning a new season . . . of her TV show and her life.

Joey Darling’s life is finally on track. Her hit series has been picked up by a new network, her relationship with Detective Jackson Sullivan couldn’t be better, and she’s even bought a house. But right after taking possession, Joey discovers a dead body upstairs.

Joey knows she won’t have any peace until she figures out why a dead woman was left at her house and who killed her. And she desperately needs peace as the “normal” life she’s trying to establish quickly progresses from great to the brink of collapse.

The countdown is ticking as Joey must soon leave to begin filming. But one gaffe after another slows her investigation and makes her question her choices. The closer Joey gets to answers, the more someone is determined to make sure this season of her life is canceled—permanently.

My Rating & Thoughts:  ðŸŒŸ ðŸŒŸ ðŸŒŸ ðŸŒŸ   (4 stars)

Joey Darling is back – this is book 7 of the series and picks up right where book 6 ended.

Can you imagine moving into your new home and discovering a dead body in one of the rooms? When this happens to Joey there is no way she can step away from trying to figure out who this person is, why they were in her house and who killed them. Was the killer aiming for Joey and the other person got caught in the crosshairs? Or is this not connected to Joey at all?

The mystery kept me intrigued trying to figure out who was behind what was going on and if Joey’s “accidents” were connected. I could totally relate to Joey not wanting to stay at her new house. But in typically Joey fashion she perseveres.

In addition Joey is feeling like she needs to choose between her personal relationship and her acting career. When Joey’s co-star from her show Relentless arrives in town their relationship is really tested. Will it pass the test? Can their relationship survive? I surely hope so as I love seeing Joey and Jackson together. I look forward to seeing what happens next for Joey.
