Happy Friday!!!
It's a week later and I just realized that last week's post had an extra word in it that completely changed what I meant to say oops … that's what I get for posting at the last minute and rushing.
I decided this week to start on working on some older books I have sitting around that have been on my TBR (to be read) list for a while. I love to read series in order, preferably one right after a another. I used to be avid about waiting for all the books to be released before I would even start book 1, but then I just couldn't wait any longer. Now I tend to re-read the earlier books when the next is released, meaning I will re-read book 1 and 2 if am ready to start book 3. This is not a hard and fast rule that I always follow but for those series that have continuing storylines/characters (and if I really enjoyed the first books) I will do this. Today's book is book 1 from one of those a series that I had put off reading until all 3 books were released, because I just knew that I was going to get sucked into the characters and want to keep going (and I was correct). I just finished this book last night (review coming soon) and have already started book two. Ms. Hannon knows how to draw readers in and keep their attention.
Today's book is: Buried Secrets by Irene Hannon
Prologue
"It was meant to be a joyride. No one was suppose to die."
Now it's your turn! Grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Then join in more First Line fun by visiting these blogs:
It's been a while since I read one of Irene Hannon's suspense novels (which I always preferred over her straight romance and women's fiction). I suspect I'll have to rectify that soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing from Ghost Heart by Lisa Harris and Lynne Gentry over on my blog - it's a medical thriller set in Africa. If you enjoy Irene Hannon's suspense novels, you'll enjoy Ghost Heart.
I'll have to check that book out then.
DeleteGreat first line!
ReplyDeleteI have the first line from Thomas Locke's "Fault Lines" on my blog today, but I'm going to share the first line from Candace Calvert's "Disaster Status" from her Mercy Hospital Collection. The Kindle collection with all three books in the series is on sale this month for just $2.99, so I couldn't resist!
"Fire captain Scott McKenna bolted through the doors of Pacific Mercy ER, his boots thudding and heart pounding as the unconscious child began to stiffen and jerk in his arms."
Sounds intense! Great first line. Have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove Irene Hannon's books!
ReplyDeleteHere is my first line:
Rebekah
In the fourth grade we made little rockets out of old film canisters, baking soda, and vinegar.
The Isaac Project by Sarah Monzon
Oohhh. I loved this book.
DeleteOoh that first line is most certainly intriguing! I love Irene Hannon's novels.
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing about Three Wishes by Lisa T. Bergren over on my blog today, but I'm currently reading the sequel, Four Winds, so I'll share that here. :)
"Javier laughed and shook his head as we reached the top of the sand dune, Centinela loping in a wide circle around us. "I do not know if I can court a girl from the future and have a pet wolf," he said in Spanish. "That is a lot to ask of one man."
I want to read that, too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
My first line is from The Spinster & the Cowboy by Lena Nelson Dooley:
"When the sharp rap on his closed office door roused him, Joshua Dillinger raised his gaze from the legal document he had been studying with intense concentration."
Oh, man. That line really pulls you in. I want to know more. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's mine from Misty Beller's The Lady and the Mountain Man "Are you going to poison her the way you killed your last wife?"
Great first line!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAfter reading about ten fiction books in the summer, I'm taking a fiction break and reading non-fiction. :) I'm currently reading "Arms and Equipment in the Civil War," which is a super fascinating read that goes in depth with all of the weapons used, tactics used, etc.
Love the first line. Makes you wonder what happened.
ReplyDeleteMy first line:
“I inspected the knife in my hand.” ~ Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
Happy Reading!

Exactly I couldn't put it down after that line.
